Whilst the principles of psychophysics as applicable to signage was recognized in the 1980's, it was only upon the development and commercial availability of the 'true-blue' LED pixel during 1996 that the dream of medium, long and ultra-long distance viewing of large format, animated and moving message, full colour corporate signage and advertising billboards could become reality.

To exploit the commercial potential of the technology, the innovators formed a company that was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in April 2000. This company, Lumacom Limited, is entirely focused on the commercial application of the science, and owns the worldwide patents and all the rights associated with the LED-based signage system known as LumaSigns.


Lumacom continues to be managed by the same innovators and business people that developed the properties of psychophysics and the electronic technology in the early 80's. The company is now operating in most parts of the world whilst continuing LumaSign product development at its laboratory facilities in Perth, Western Australia.
